In 2012, I decided that I wanted to have more conversations with other artists about the process of making work because I wanted to get feedback and ideas from other artists.  As a result, I started a group at the Meetup website inviting any working artists to join in studio work discussions, visiting galleries and museums, and sharing resources.  That is how the Art Byte Critique group came to be.

Art Byte Critique has now been active for 10 years.  We have participated in group exhibitions, art book fairs, and collaborative exhibitions.  We continue to have studio work discussion meetings and Art Byte Critique members are now active around the world.

The last few years have been a challenge to maintain our activities.  We learned to adapt to online meetings which was a blessing.  It allowed us to connect with Art Byte Critique artists who had left Japan and continued their activities elsewhere the world.  We hope this exhibition will help get the next 10 years of Art Byte Critique off to a running start.

In addition to bringing together artists across ten years for a look back, we hope this exhibition raises awareness and interest in our community with a larger audience.  We invite artists, makers, creatives to join our conversations and activities and continue Art Byte Critique’s evolution for the next 10 years.

Art Byte Critique is celebrating its 10th anniversary as a community connecting artists around Tokyo.

From November 18 - 28, 2022, we will be participating in the group exhibition "10" at Launch Pad Gallery to showcase the work of our members. We are printmakers, painters, sculptors, video artists and many more. This exhibition is being organized by Deanna Gabiga who has been with us for the whole 10 years.

Come celebrate, reflect, and move forward for the next decade at the Launch Pad Gallery.

アートバイト講評団は、現在10年の活動期間を経ています。 グループ展、アートブックフェア、コラボレーション展などに参加してきました。 スタジオワークのディスカッションミーティングも続けており、アートバイト講評団のメンバーは、今や世界中で活躍しています。

ここ数年、私たちの活動を維持するのは大変なことでした。 その結果、オンラインミーティングに適応できるようになったのは幸いでした。 日本を離れ、世界各地で活動を続けているアーティストたちとのつながりもできました。

この展覧会が、次の10年のArt Byte Critiqueのスタートとなることを願っています。また、10年の歩みを振り返るとともに、この展覧会をきっかけに、より多くの方々に私たちのコミュニティについて知っていただき、興味を持っていただきたいと願っています。 私たちは、アーティスト、メーカー、クリエーターが私たちの会話や活動に参加し、次の10年に向けてArt Byte Critiqueの進化を続けていくことを望んでいます。

アートバイト講評団は、東京周辺のアーティストがつながるコミュニティとして、10周年を迎えます。

11月18日-28日Launch Pad Galleryで開催されるグループ展「10」に参加し、私たちのメンバーの作品を紹介します。私たちは、版画家、画家、彫刻家、ビデオアーティスト、その他多くのアーティストです。この展覧会は、10年間ずっと一緒に仕事をしてきたディアナ・ガビガ氏が寛大にも企画したものです。
